I have to confess: I played the video “Gangnam Style” for my child, and she really liked it. In fact, one of the few things Olivia likes more than dancing around the living room to that song is this version with the Oregon Duck. (This duck was also problematic when Melissa was trying to get Olivia to cheer for Wisconsin during last year’s Rose Bowl.) When we put in on the TV, she will get excited and start to dance before realizing that she doesn’t want to be the only one on the dance floor. She reaches a hand out to each of us. “Come.” She closes and opens her hand in a beckoning gesture. “Come!” At this point, we really have no choice but to stand up and join her. When the video ends, she usually points up at the TV and says “Again.” It appears we may have created a little K-Pop addict, but it makes her happy, so I’ll allow it.
